Workshop Committee Co-Chairs

General Description: 

Share your knowledge of topics of interest to hikers who want to expand their hard and soft skills and find workshop presenters. Determine and organize the workshops schedule at A.T. Vista. You will serve on the A.T. Vista Steering Committee to provide oversight of the Workshop program of the conference. As Workshop Co-Chair, you will work with your committee to set a schedule, find presenters, write workshop descriptions, and set a schedule, A report about how the Workshop Chairs operated at the 2007 conference is available You will have the opportunity to work with others in the metro area and widen your network of fellow hikers.

Objective: 

Select topics, secure leaders, schedule and coordinate workshops.  Provide information for the publication of the workshop program.

Skills: 
  • Ability to find topics of interest to hikers and find workshop presenter.
  • Proven track record of organizing events
  • Ability to trouble shoot 
Specific Tasks: 
  • While running the Conference
    • Be a member of the Steering Committee
    • Track own hours
    • Present and monitor budget  
  • Planning the Conference

    • Read the report from the 2007 conference and talk with previous chair(s)
    • Recruit and assemble committee such that the committee members can find workshop presenters in both soft and hard skills. trails
    • Attend AT Vista Steering Committee meetings either in person or phone
    • Present budget
    • Organize committee meeting on regular basis initially in person and then either by phone or face to face
      • Have minutes posted on Google Drive
      • Make decisions and report back on regular basis
      • Delegate tasks as appropriate to committee members
      • Prepare and post content on website and later for publication in AT Journeys and Trail Walker
      • Assign people to work the hikes desk to answer questions
      • Provide information for Signs chair
  • At the conference
    • Staff the Workshop desk
    • Post signs about locations of workshops
  • After the conference
    • Write a report

Time Line: 
  • May 2000- Preliminary report for June Steering Committee Mtg.
  • Summer 2000- Finalize topics and leaders
  • Oct. 2000- Final schedule due to Publications for ATN announcement
  • Winter 2000- Finalize arrangements , determine exact locations for workshop sessions, special needs etc.
  • April 2000- Final schedule with locations due to Publications for printing of on-site program
  • April to May 2001- Monitor registration to determine possible needs for adjustments in space, etc.
  • Meeting week- Oversee workshop operations, staff information desk
  • Sept. 2001- Final report due
